Pocket Moni: Your AI Assistant, Anytime, Anywhere
Pocket Moni was born out of a desire to help friends and family with their everyday questions and challenges. As the founder of ShowdownLab, Moni found himself frequently assisting his Chinese friends living in France, as well as non-tech-savvy family members and friends, with a wide range of inquiries. These questions ranged from legal matters related to integrating into French society, to translation and language explanations, to technical support issues like Bluetooth, and even academic questions from children and students.
It wasn’t that Moni didn’t enjoy helping his friends and family—it was simply that it took up a significant amount of his time. He wasn’t necessarily smarter than others, but he had honed the ability to research and find answers more efficiently. Over time, as the number of questions increased, Moni realized that it would be incredibly useful for his friends to have access to large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT or Gemini to interact with. However, at the time, the technology presented certain barriers: there were no mobile apps, crafting effective prompts required some thought, and the need for a subscription was off-putting.
One goal for ShowdownLab:
“What if we could empower everyone's daily life with AI, no tech skills required—just 24/7 assistance, right in their pocket?”
That's when Moni, together with Lucas, decided to create an assistant that would be as simple as a WhatsApp contact. This assistant would be connected to various AI models, depending on the type of question, making advanced AI accessible to anyone with WhatsApp. No need for installations, no technical knowledge required—just a simple contact transfer or adding a number to your phone. Instantly, Moni’s expatriate friends and others had a "Moni" in their pocket, available 24/7, more efficient, more precise, and able to assist with any topic. Whether it was cooking advice, help with children's homework, drafting professional emails for business proposals, or proofreading documents, Pocket Moni became a phenomenal time-saver, powered by an AI with infinite patience, ready to fine-tune every detail according to their instructions.

Over time, the application expanded globally, across different ages and languages, freeing up time for creators to add value to what they love, empowering parents to better support their children, and inspiring those looking to push their projects further.
